Sometimes you sometimes feel that time is passing, but you do not know that you buy as a gift?

Do not worry, I’m here to help you.

I have for you a few simple homemade gifts, which you can give to your friends and anyone.

They are not only cute, but some more and helpful at all times.

Last Minute Gift Ideas

First, decide how your magnets should look

Then roll smoothly little polymer clay, resting on popsicle sticks

If you are ready, start to cut with a knife, these “talking bubbles.”

can first cut shapes out of paper, put them on clay and circle. If you so easily.

then tweak the form, if it has any irregularities

Now press the two small magnets in clay. If the magnets are large, then one can suffice.

Now remove them and turn clay

Align the surface a little bit and turn the clay again.

I would advise to burn them as follows. With this method, the surface of the “talking bubble” will be more smooth.

Now, let it cool down and start to paint his slate paint.

Complete drying will take a few hours, but for the next step just a few minutes.

When the drawing is dry, you can start painting white pencil following “bubbles” inside.

If you’re ready, you can use acrylic paint on top of the figure.

If the picture is dry, you can glue on the back side of a good adhesive magnets.

Now all it has to dry and the magnet is ready!

All this is very simple and does not necessarily make “bubbles”. You can do any shape!

Good thing it looks beautiful, and you can use it many times.

And if you need a gift for a chocolate lover, it is – a great idea.

For this you will need the homemade popsicle sticks from a little decorative Sprinkles empty cups of yogurt and cookie cutters

And, of course, melted chocolate!

DIY: Last Minute Gift Ideas

For this option, I pour sugar snowflakes on the bottom of the cup add blue sugar crystals and pour on top of the white chocolate.

Then I add a bit on top of blue and white and brown chocolate dusting.

Make sure that the glass is not too full.

And it is on top of everything – blue sugar crystals.

Tereré add popsicle sticks from.

Maybe take a little chill chocolate to stick standing.

Now you can put it on a couple of minutes in the refrigerator.

Such as chocolate popsicle you can make cookie cutters.

The technology is the same!

If you have different varieties of chocolate and a lot of different decorative sugar, then you may be especially creative.

Now everything cool for a few minutes.

And now carefully subtract mold.

To remove the yogurt cup, it is necessary to gently press on the edge, and now you can get a chocolate popsicle.

Because I have left a bit of chocolate, I decided to decorate the chocolate using my tins.

If you want to know how you will give these chocolate popsicle, so I’ll show you how.

3 Place the popsicle’s the way and wrap them transparent wrapping paper.

Now you’ll have a chocolate bouquet or you can wrap a popsicle like this and put it in a special mug.

If you want to give something useful for permanent use here is a “computer” for the countdown – this is what you need.

For this you will need to homemade picture frame millboard

Here I use the cover of my folder and again slate paint.

Now prepare the cardboard frame and remove the heel.

now we need to move it to the cardboard form.

cut it out and make sure that it meets the frame or it needs to be more correct.

When ready, you can start painting on cardboard.

While it dries, it is possible that a draw-in frame.

This is not required, but I wanted it to look like a king, and I dyed frame in a chic gold color.

Code everything is dry, reinsert the cardboard frame and mark the edge of the frame like this on cardboard white pencil.

This-a way to know how much space we can use.

Mark the middle of the board. This will be our guide.

I decided to make this cardboard butterfly, and you draw what you want.

Template I put a piece of paper in half, draw half a butterfly, cut her open and obvozhu.

Now note the space in the middle for the letters.

If you want to make it more exactly, to draw additional lines as I did.

If this is done, you can start to draw the contour of acrylic paint.

For more glamor I gave a little acrylic butterfly gold.

Now, let dry, wipe off the auxiliary line and cardboard – ready!

Now insert the cardboard frame add greater stability to the glass and a rear wall of the frame and “computer” to reverse the account – is ready.

Now you can chastise the remaining time before anything.

Maybe you do not want to forget a birthday or expect something and can not wait.

This is – a reliable way to plan and do not forget important events.

And this table makes it all more fun. Do you agree?

It was you guys, my gifts in haste.

And not just on New Year’s Eve, you can give them on different occasions.

I hope you enjoyed Last Minute Gift Ideas

The History and Traditions of Birthday Cards

The History and Traditions of Birthday Cards

External image

External image
These days, you can walk into any convenience store and find cards with a pithy birthday quotes while you’re filling your car up with gas. Greeting cards are everywhere – grocery stores, pharmacies, gift shops. And, whether it’s a birthday card, Valentine’s Day card or just a ‘Thinking of You’ card, if you forget to pick one up, you can even find one online and send it in an email. But it hasn’t always been this easy to find a birthday card.

The tradition of sending greeting cards can be traced all the way back to the ancient Chinese who sent messages to celebrate the New Year. The early Egyptians sent their greetings on papyrus scrolls. And by the early 15th Century, Europeans were sending out hand-made paper cards.

But until the mid 1800s, greeting cards were only available in America via import from England. In 1856 German immigrant Louis Prang opened the first small printing shop in Boston and in 1875 he finally perfected his process and began producing greeting cards. By 1881, Prang, ‘The Father of the American Greeting Card,” was producing more than 5 million cards each year. His success was a major contribution to the success of the modern greeting card industry.

Most of the major greeting card companies we have today were founded the early 1900s and the business really took off in the early 1930s when newer color printing processes were developed. Greeting cards at this time covered the basic holidays – Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and birthday – and it wasn’t until the 1950s when more general purpose cards were introduced.

Now, you can find greeting cards to cover almost every holiday including Halloween and Easter, cards to express sympathy or condolences, to offer congratulations, to wish someone a speedy recovery or a long and happy married life, and a wide variety of general messages. And you can even get blank greeting cards so you can pen your own message.

But the most popular greeting card of all is still the birthday card. It’s estimated that they account for more than 60% of all greeting card sales.

Originally, people wished each other well on birthdays to ward off evil spirits. It was believed that it was easier for evil spirits to harm a person on their birthday and one way to prevent it from happening was to gather together and have a party, offering up well wishes for the person’s future. This is how birthday parties began and, as society became more mobile, it became necessary to send your well wishes in a letter or card, since it wasn’t always possible to get together and celebrate.

Today, though, we not only send birthday cards to people who are far away, we also personally hand them to friends and loved ones, just to brighten their day. We rarely worry about those nasty evil spirits doing harm to our loved ones. In fact, we worry more about our loved ones doing harm to us if we forget to send them a card. Maybe that’s why someone came up with the idea of the Belated Birthday Card.

We All Eat: CAKE!

New happy birthday wishes post has been published on http://www.topbirthdaywishes.org/eat-cake/

We All Eat: CAKE!

image

History of cake

Cake is a term with a long history (the word is of Viking origin, from the Old Norse kaka) and denotes a baked flour confection sweetened with sugar or honey; it is mixed with eggs and often, but not invariably, with milk and fat; and it has a porous texture from the mixture rising during cooking. It is not surprising that the frontiers between cake and bread, biscuit and bun are indistinct. The progenitor of all is bread in its simplest form. As techniques for baking and leavening developed, and eating patterns changed, what were originally regarded as froms of bread came to be seen as categories of their own and named accordingly. Certain Roman breads, enriched with eggs and butter, must have achieved a cakelike consistency and thus approached one of these indistinct frontiers.

Europe and places such as North America where European influence is strong have always been the center of cakes. One might even draw a line more tightly, fourn English-speaking areas. No other language has a word that means exactly the same as the English ‘cake.’ The continental European gateau and torte often contain higher proportions of butter, eggs and enriching ingredients such as chocolate, and often lean towaars pastry rathern than cake. Central and East European items such as baba and the Easter kulich are likewise different.

The western tradition of cakes applies little in Asia. In some countries western-style cakes have been adopted on a small scale, for example the small sponge cakes called kasutera in Japan. But the ‘cakes’ which are imporant in Asian are quite different from anything occidental for examples, see mooncakes and rice cakes of the Philippines.

The history of cakes, goes a long way back. Among the remains found in Swiss lake villages were crude cakes make from roughly crushed gains, moistened, compacted and cooked on a hot stone. Such cakes can be regarded as a form of unleavened bread, as the precursor of all modern European baked products. Some modern survivors of these mixtures still go by the name ‘cake’, for instance oatcakes, although these are now considreed to be more closely related to biscuits by virtue of their flat, thin shape and brittle texture.

Ancient Egypt was the first culture to show evidence of true skill in bakin, making many kinds of bread including some sweetened with hone. The Greeks had a form of cheesecake and the Romans developed early versions of fruitcakes with raisins, nuts and other fruits. These ended up in 14th century Britain. Chaucer mentions immense cakes made for special occasions. One was made with 13 kilograms of flour and contained butter, cream, eggs, spices, currants and honey.

Moulds, in the form of cake hoops or pans have been used for forming cakes since at least the mid-17th century. Most cakes were eaten accompanied by a glass of sweet wine or tea. At large banquets, elaborately decorated cakes might form part of the display, but would probably not be eaten. By the mid-19th century the French were including a separate “sweet” course at the end of the meal which might include ‘gateau.’

During the 19th century, technology made the cake-baker’s life much easier. The chemical raising agent bicarbonate of soda, introduced in the 1840’s, followed by baking powder ( a dry mixture of bicarbonate of soda with a mild acid), replaced yeast, providing a greater leavening power with less effort. Another technology breakthrough was more accuate temperature controlled ovens.

In most of NW Europe and North America a well-developed tradition of home baking survives, with a huge repertoire of cake recipes developed from the basic methods. The abililty to bake a good cake was a prized skill among housewives in the early to mid-20th century, when many households could produce a simple robust, filling ‘cut and come again’ cake, implying abundance and hospitality.

Although the popularity of home baking and the role of cakes in the diet have both changed during the 20th century, cakes remain almost ubiquitous in the western world. They have kept their image as ‘treats’ and maintain their ceremonial importance at weddings and birthdays.

“Let Them Eat Cake”

“At the time that whoever-she-was uttered the infamous quotation “let them eat cake,” the word “cake” did not refer to the familiar dessert item that the modern-day French call le gateau. The operative term was brioche, a flour-and-water paste that was “caked” onto the interiors of the ovens and baking pans of the professional boulangers of the era. (The modern equivalent is the oil-and-flour mixture applied to non-Teflon cake pans.) At the end of the day, the baker would scrape the leavings from his pans and ovens and set them outside the door for the benefit of beggars and scavengers. Thus, the lady in question was simply giving practical, if somewhat flippant, advice to her poor subjects: If one cannot afford the bourgeois bread, he can avail himself of the poor man’s “cake.”

However, by the time Marie Antoinette ascended the throne, brioche had acquired its current meaning–a fancy pastry item which, like le gateau, was priced far beyond the means of any but the wealthiest classes. The anti-Marie propagandists were well aware that their compatriots, most of whom were uneducated in either history or semantics, would swallow the story whole, so to speak, and not get the joke.”

“To Have One’s Cake and Eat It Too”

To wish to have one’s cake and eat it too (sometimes eat one’s cake and have it too) is to want more than one can handle or deserve, or to try to have two incompatible things. This is a popular English idiomatic proverb, or figure of speech.

The phrase’s earliest recording is from 1546 as “wolde you bothe eate your cake, and haue your cake?”, alluding to the impossibility of eating your cake and still having it afterwards; the modern version (where the clauses are reversed) is a corruption which was first signaled in 1812.

Comedian George Carlin once critiqued this idiom by saying, “When people say, ‘Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too.’ What good is a cake you can’t eat? What should I eat, someone else’s cake instead?”. Of course, in the original correct form (eat your cake and have it too), Carlin’s critique does not apply.

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too is a book by Susan G. Purdy. Bob Dylan changed the phrase in his song “Lay Lady Lay” in the line: “You can have your cake and eat it, too.”

Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can.
Roll it, and prick it, and mark it with a “B”
And put it in the oven for Baby and me!

Variation:
Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man,
So I will, master, as fast as I can.
Pat it, and prick it, and mark it with a “T”
And put it in the oven for Tommy and me!

A common custom in many cultures, is the Epiphany cake containing a trinket or bean, the person who finds it in his piece becoming the king of the feast. Sometimes there are two trinkets, or one bean and one pea: one for a king and one one for a queen. In the royal courts of the later Middle Ages, these customs were very popular. Some believe these celebrations derived from pagan Roman customs associated with Saturnalia, which fell at around the same time as Christmas. If so, it can be seen as an example of “inculturation”, or transforming pre-Christian customs and practices by giving them Christian significance. The Roman theme of the lordship of the feast was easily shifted to the Epiphany theme of kingship: that of Christ himself and of the Magi, or “Three Kings”.

Different parts of Europe have different traditional recipes for the Epiphany cake — from the almond-paste-filled pastry, the French “galette de Rois” topped by golden paper crown, to the British fruit-filled, iced and layered confection.

Wedding Cake

A wedding cake is the traditional cake served to the guests at a wedding breakfast, after a wedding. It is usually a large cake, multi-layered or tiered, and heavily decorated with icing, occasionally over a layer of marzipan, topped with a small statue of a bride and groom. Other common motifs include doves, gold rings and horseshoes, the latter symbolising good luck. Achieving a dense, strong cake that can support the decorations while remaining edible can be considered the epitome of the baker’s art and skill.

Tradition generally requires that the first cut of the cake be performed by bride and groom together, often with a ceremonial knife, or even a sword. An older, archaic tradition had the bride serve all portions to the groom’s family, as a symbolic transfer of her household labor from her family to the groom’s family.

Tradition may also dictate that the bride and groom feed the first bites of this cake to each other.

Again, this may symbolize the new family unit formed and the replacement of the old parent-child union. It is also fairly popular for the bride and groom to shove the cake in each other’s faces, rather than eating it.

Other guests may then partake of the cake, portions may be taken home or shipped to people who missed the festivities. (An old tradition held that if a bridesmaid slept with a piece of wedding cake beneath her pillow she might dream of her future husband.)

A portion may be stored, and eaten by the couple at their first wedding anniversary, or at the christening of their first child- The cake may be frozen for this purpose, formerly the top tier of the cake might consist of fruitcake which could be stored for a great length of time.

The origins of the tradition of the wedding cake are hard to determine. Sweets are traditional at many celebrations for most if not all cultures world-wide. Ancient Roman records detail sweets distributed at weddings. The book Folklore Myths and Legends of Britain details the ancient Roman practice of dropping a wedding cake on the head of the bride.

Medieval and Renaissance resources also mention large cakes at weddings. Such cakes may have been fruitcake.

A large cake can take a long time to make, and without modern refrigeration, a heavy fat and sugar frosting may have prevented spoilage by limiting moisture exposure. Another possibility is the use of sugar and fat required satisfying the need for conspicuous consumption for the families involved in the wedding.

Henry VIII of England enacted a law specifying the quantity of sugar a cake may have, possibly to control or tax this prevailing convention.

During World War II, sugar was rationed in the UK, so icing could not be made, and cakes were reduced in size. To overcome cakes were often served inside a box which had been decorated with plaster of Paris, to resemble a larger, traditional cake.

Birthday Cakes

A birthday cake in Western culture is a pastry or dessert served to a person on his or her birthday, sometimes decorated with the person’s name and/or a message of congratulations. It is often decorated with candles, one for each year the person has been alive. One tradition is to add an extra candle “for good luck,” although this varies.

Tradition holds that the person with the birthday can make a wish, which will come true if all the candles can be blown out in one breath. But many people make a wish if it takes them more than one breath. Another tradition is to smear out the name of the person for good luck before slicing the cake for serving.

Birthday cakes are usually sponge cakes, although many other recipies can be used. One of the most popular flavors is chocolate.

The U.S. patent #6,319,530 is a “method of photocopying an image onto an edible web for decorating iced baked goods.” This invention enables one to inkjet print a food-grade color photograph on the cake surface.

Birthday Wishes – Pleasing The Kids

How do we give kids birthday wishes and gifts that they can not only enjoy but also benefit from? As a parent you may not want to give into your kid’s demands for all of the gadgets, gizmos, video games, candy and other desires they might have. That will leave you with a tough situation to make them happy on their birthday while also satisfying your ulterior motives as well.

18th Birthday Party Ideas - My Personal Tips!

18th Birthday Party Ideas - My Personal Tips!

External image

External image

If you’re thinking about “18th Birthday Party Ideas” then you’re in for a treat! I am a personal party planner and have been so for many years. I have planned hundreds of 18th birthdays and over the years have realized that there is a reason that some turn out good and others turn out bad! You see its hard to find 18th bday party ideas, especially on the internet. So I have put together this article to give you a brief taste of some of the best ideas that my clients choose.

So let’s get straight into: 18th birthday party ideas – my personal tips.

Have a huge 18th birthday party for family and friends.

Worldwide this is one of the most popular things to do on your 18th and can be the very best way to celebrate the start of adulthood. Regardless of whether or not you celebrate your birthday in a hired venue or in the comfort of your own home having a birthday party is a very easy and fun filled way to really enjoy your 18th.

To really spice up an ordinary 18th birthday party; try having a “themed party”. There is nothing more fun than seeing every one dressed up in your favourite theme, from an “angels and devils” theme to a “pimps and hoes” theme! At the end of the day a theme party brings character to your 18th.

Go to the best nightclub in your city / town.

Even if you go with just a hand full of friends “hitting the town for a night out” if only for your 18th will not only be worth it but immensely memorable. If you can’t bring the party home then take the party out with you! Make sure you wear the best clothes you have and become the centre of attention for that one night.

Go shopping!

More for the girls this one, but my word if you can afford it then do it! Nothing more marks an 18th than the latest Channel shoes or Armani watch (budget depending of course). If you can ask mummy or daddy to spoil you, at least once in your life, then this is the perfect shopping spree to do so, so don’t mess up your chances

Treat yourself to a relaxing spa and makeover.

Now you guys may think that this only applies to us girls but there you’d be wrong. Not only does a makeover apply to boys also but some boys would just as much benefit from them as girls do! A makeover is more than the pedicures and manicures, it’s a chance for you to enhance your child look and bring about a more adult appearance. Even if you just get a haircut this is definitely one of my personal favourites on what you should do for your 18th birthday.

Doing something is better than doing nothing!

It is always important to do something on your 18th. Too often I am approached by 18 year olds parents who plan their child’s 18th not as a surprise but as their child doesn’t want to do anything for it. This couldn’t be more of a mistake! It is better to do something that you fairly fond of like going cinema or bowling on your 18th then be stuck at home watching the a “re-run” of “pets do the funniest things”! The thing is after the birthday person always never regrets that they celebrated their 18th the way they did. This is no coincidence!

Now the thing to remember here is your turning 18 is a once in a lifetime experience so don’t waste it doing something you don’t enjoy. You should really try your best to make it unforgettable, with any budget.

8 Steps for Planning a Birthday Party

New happy birthday wishes post has been published on http://www.topbirthdaywishes.org/8-steps-planning-birthday-party/

8 Steps for Planning a Birthday Party

External image

External image
Kids aren’t the only ones who love birthday parties – adults love them,

too! But maybe you’ve never planned a party. Where do you start? Is it

ok to just blow up some balloons and hand out noisemakers? Do you need

to provide entertainment? Below you’ll find 8 simple steps that will

get you on your way to planning a fabulous birthday bash.

Budget

Into every party plan, a little budgeting must fall. Be realistic about

what you can spend and then stick to it. It’s also helpful to decide

what the most important factors are. Are you set on a big, extravagant

cake? Will you be hiring entertainment? Will you need lots of

decorations? Budget the largest chunk of change to whatever you feel

are the “must-haves” and then adjust the remainder of your budget

accordingly. Don’t forget to budget for your gift, as well.

Pick a Theme, Any Theme
When it comes to choosing a theme for an adult’s birthday party, pretty

much anything goes! From surprise parties or casino nights to Hollywood

glamour or “over the hill”, there are lots of themes you can make

uniquely your own. But remember – the party is in honor of someone

special, so stay away from anything that would be embarrassing or in

bad taste.

Who’s Who
Who will you invite to the birthday party? Just a few close friends?

Friends and co-workers? Family? Everyone the guest of honor has ever

known? Will it be “girls only” or “boys only”? Unless it’s a surprise

party, work with the guest of honor (and your budget) to try to

determine how many guests will be invited to the shindig.

The When & Where
Once you have a rough idea of how many people may be attending, you’ll

need to decide where to have the birthday party. Will your home be

large enough? Will you need to rent tables and chairs to accommodate

everyone? Or will you need to have the party at a restaurant or hall?

Decide what location will suit your needs, then set a date and time.

Send Invitations
Once you’ve determined a location, date and time, it’s time to send the

invitations. Try to send them 4-6 weeks ahead of time so that the

guests have plenty of time to purchase a gift and make travel and/or

childcare arrangements. The invitations can range from formal and

traditional to casual and fun. Many people even choose to simply print

their own – especially if they’re on a budget.

On the Menu
What kind of food will you serve? Whether you’re serving finger-type

foods or having the event catered, now is the time to plan what will be

served to eat. When planning drinks, be sure to have caffeine and

alcohol-free options available, too. This is also the time to select

what type of cake you’ll serve.

Fun, Fun, Fun
While some themes (like a casino night) will require you to have games

planned out, other themes may offer more flexibility. Many parties are

fine with just music and mingling, but it’s a good idea to have some

fun activities planned in case your guests need help getting in the

party mood. Activities such as charades and karaoke will usually liven

things up and get your guests loosened up.

Décor & More
No matter what theme you choose for the birthday party, you’ll need

decorations…a banner and streamers at the very least. Party supply

stores offer inexpensive decorations for a variety of party themes, so

it shouldn’t be difficult to find what you need. And besides the

decorations, you’ll want to make sure you have enough cups, plates,

napkins, eating utensils, etc. Stock up now so you’re not caught short

during the party!

With a little planning, even the most inexperienced host can pull off a

fun and fabulous birthday party that grownups will adore.

How to Make a Butterfly Birthday Cake

New happy birthday wishes post has been published on http://www.topbirthdaywishes.org/make-butterfly-birthday-cake/

How to Make a Butterfly Birthday Cake

image

Transform your cake mix into a beautiful butterfly! Follow these simple steps to create an original and decorative birthday cake for your child. One of the easiest ways to achieve the themed cake you want is to hire a cake tin of that shape and follow the recommended guidelines for quantities. Cutting cakes to shape is not difficult, though it is worth having a trial run before the occasion to perfect your technique. (And using up any that go wrong is never a problem…)

Cake Recipe
Make two 23cm sponge cakes of your choice-Madeira is easy to make and good to work with (see recipe for Madeira sponge in: ‘Birthday Cakes for a First Birthday’ article.) Turn out the cooked cakes; from either the hired shaped tin or your own two cake tins. Allow them to cool thoroughly on wire racks before cutting in half, horizontally, then spread with butter cream filling and gently push the two halves back together.

If shaping the cake yourself, use a serrated bread knife to cut both cakes, vertically, in half. You will now have a straight edge on the inside of the two halves. Now you need to cut the two halves again, this time into 1/3 and 2/3 pieces.

To get the shape of the butterfly wings, it is important to cut the cake pieces equally. I find it easier if I imagine a clock face on the cake, but one on which the central point has dropped down about a quarter.

On the left hand side cake half, mark a line (the clock hand) with your knife from one third of the way up the centre line going up in a diagonal line to just beyond where the number 9 would be. On the right hand side cake half, mark a line (the other clock hand) from one third of the way up the centre line to just before where the number 3 would be.

Use a tape measure if you’re not sure, but this should give you two larger pieces at the top of your ‘clock’ and two smaller ones at the bottom, making two 1/3 pieces and two 2/3 pieces. Alternatively, use cocktail sticks to mark the line if you find this easier.

Now turn the two halves around, so you have the rounded edges of the cake next to each other. This gives you a good idea of how your butterfly shape will look when you cut through the lines you have marked; make adjustments now, if necessary.

Cake Filling
Butter cream and jam make a tasty but simple filling for this cake.

Alternative Coverings
Readymade icing that just needs rolling and cutting to shape is ideal. It can be bought in a variety of colours and is simple to use (similar to handling plasticine) don’t be alarmed if your hands change colour when handling it!

This ready-roll can be decorated with tubes of icing; these also come in several colours and are supplied with different nozzles. No fiddly piping skills needed; it really is very simple to use! Edible icing paper is another easy way to cover your cake-peel off the backing paper and stick onto the cake.

Your butterfly birthday cake can be decorated however you like-liquorice twists make good antennae and patterns can be made with sweets if you don’t fancy creating patterns with icing tubes. Finish off with birthday candles. The overall effect of shape and colour is appreciated before the taste!

50th Birthday Gifts Ideas

50th Birthday Gifts Ideas

External image

External image
By any measure, a 50th birthday represents a milestone in an individual’s life. While 50th birthday gifts can be a chance to splurge on a special 50-year-old by giving them classic gold jewelry or 50 experiences; inexpensive gifts, such as 50 memories or flowers, can be among the most treasured presents received.
Shower of 50 Gifts
Give the recipient a small gift for each of the 50 days leading up to his 50th birthday; select small thoughtful items such as a new book by his favorite author, a bar of chocolate, a small candle or even a bottle of his preferred soda.
50 Items in Packs of 50
Wrap a selection of 50 items grouped into collections of 50, such as 50 pencils or pens, 50 thumbtacks, 50 envelopes, 50 sheets of stationery, 50 candles, 50 cookies, 50 jelly beans or even a pack of 50 Legos or marbles for the young at heart. For the best results, stick primarily with items that can be used (or eaten) by the individual rather than giving her too many useless knick-knacks. This can be a fun project for a group of people to put together for an individual’s birthday.
Fifties Music
Give a music lover a selection of music from the 1950s. Include favorites by artists such as Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, Rosemary Clooney and other notable musicians of that time period.
Jewelry
Classic gifts for a 50th birthday include a watch for men and bracelets or earrings for a woman. Consider giving a gift made out of gold because many people refer to the 50’s as the “golden years.”
50 Experiences
Create a coupon book of 50 experiences you want to give the birthday recipient during their 50th year. Depending upon your relationship to the recipient, these experiences might include romance (dinner on the beach), adventure (a sky diving session) or pampering (spa day).
Flowers
Send a woman celebrating this milestone birthday 50 flowers for a striking and dramatic birthday tribute. While many people traditionally send red roses, you could also consider tulips or another flower favored by the recipient.
50 Memories Canister
Decorate an empty canister by gluing photos, newspaper clippings or other items onto it. Tear a sheet or two of paper into 50 small strips. On each strip of paper, write a favorite memory of the birthday man or woman. This inexpensive gift will surely bring a smile to the recipient’s face and serve as a concrete reminder of his importance in your life.
$50 to Charity
If you suspect that the birthday person might not want any type of tangible gifts, donate $50 to the individual’s favorite charity and encourage other friends or family members to do the same. These contributions can add up to a sizable donation by the end of the party or celebration.

Best 40th Birthday Gift Ideas for a Woman

New happy birthday wishes post has been published on http://www.topbirthdaywishes.org/best-40th-birthday-gift-ideas-woman/

Best 40th Birthday Gift Ideas for a Woman

External image

External image

A woman who’s turning 40 may have ambivalent feelings about reaching this milestone age. On the one hand, she’s passed a threshold and is now a “mature woman.” On the other hand, she still feels as young as she did in her thirties – so what’s the big deal? Thus, when giving birthday gifts to 40-year-old women, act with sensitivity. Funny “over the hill” gag gifts are fine to a point, but can go too far; a serious gift meant to honor her new decade is also in order. In fact, the best 40th birthday gift ideas for a woman who’s a wife, coworker, friend or family member will focus more on the person she is than on her age.

40th Birthday Gag Gifts for a Female

The theme of 40 lends itself to many gift and party ideas. Besides, to ignore her newly achieved age altogether is to fail to do justice to her milestone – or her sense of humor. One idea is to have an age theme at her birthday party – for example, 40 balloons, 40 candles, and 40 cupcakes laid out in the number 40 instead of the usual layer cake or sheet cake.

Another suggestion is to buy her a novelty gag gift for a laugh. Over the hill gifts like a coffin-shaped gift basket or a T-shirt printed with “39 Forever” are one option, but don’t be limited. Also try:

  • Nostalgic gifts such as a music CD of ’80s music, or a 40th birthday gift basket of retro candy.
  • Funny books about the age of 40, such as “You Know You’re Forty When…” and “Forty Things to Do When You Turn Forty.”
  • Enormous teddy bear to be presented after a funny birthday speech, along the lines of: “People think turning 40 means getting old. It’s not true. You’re still in the prime of life. And here’s the proof.”
  • Stylish, colorful handbag filled with funny poems about reaching 40, composed by the birthday female’s friends, family and coworkers.

Affordable 40th Birthday Present Ideas for a Woman

Besides a gag gift, acknowledge her age with something she’ll really love. Major milestone birthday presents can still be cheap and affordable. The key is to make them memorable, personal and thoughtful. Some suggestions for inexpensive birthday gifts for her:

  • Try a box of chocolate truffles and a small pile of “chick lit” novels by bestselling authors Helen Fielding, Sophie Kinsella, Jennifer Crusie and Meg Cabot with a personalized card that says “Luxuriate. You’re 40 and you’ve earned it.”
  • A modest 40th birthday gift basket or a spa gift box are ideal inexpensive gifts for a woman this year. Personalize a mini gift hamper by sticking in a 40th birthday candle and a photo of herself when she was a baby (get this from a family member).
  • Buy her a Cross pen and a small diary or elegant notebook, and note on the birthday card that as of now, she’s officially an authority on everything, so “here’s a place to note your words of wisdom.”

Elegant 40th Birthday Gift Ideas for a Woman

If money is no object, honor the 40th birthday female with something special that she won’t forget – the latest Kindle e-book reader, a cashmere scarf, fine chocolates, Russian caviar, a bottle of aged balsamic vinegar, a stylish pink laptop computer, even a set of DVDs of all the seasons of her favorite television show (but first make sure she doesn’t already have them).

My Top 5 Best Friend Birthday Gift Ideas

Stuck for best friend birthday gift ideas? No idea what gift to get for your best friend? To make that birthday a truly happy birthday, here are my top 5 best friend birthday gift ideas.

5. A Letter
If, like me, you don’t see your best friend that often. Write her a letter, a long newsy letter. It’s so rare to get a letter nowadays, it really is a great gift from the heart. Maybe even writing what it is about your friendship that you value. When ever I write my best friend a letter, I always pop in a tea bag. So even though I can’t be there for a good natter and a cup of tea, she can still read my letter with one!

4. The Gift that Keeps on Giving

How to Select the Perfect Birthday Card

Choosing a birthday card can be a tedious task. You want to make sure that the graphics, the style of the card, bday messages and the wording printed on the inside and cover of the card fit the occasion and the style of the person you are buying the card for. You want the card to be memorable and appreciated by the recipient and you especially want it to stand out from all the other cards they have received. The style, picture, or wording should pertain to how you truly feel about that person so he or she knows you actually spent time looking for a card rather than taking the first one you saw off the shelf. Here are some tips and guidelines on how to select the perfect birthday card.

The first thing the recipient sees when he or she opens the envelope to the card you chose for them is the style and theme of the card. If you choose a card with a generic theme, chances are the recipient won’t remember it as one of their favorite birthday wishes. When choosing a card, keep their personality and personal style in mind so that you choose a card that best fits them.

Another way to impress the recipient is by having one personally designed. If you have spent weeks and weeks trying to find the perfect card while traveling from store to store and you still haven’t found it, you can have one designed for them. With technology and its advances, it is now possible to personalize a card with a photo, a favorite sports team, a favorite hobby, personal interests, or virtually anything that represents who they are as a person. Children would enjoy a card with a photo of them on it from a birthday party or family vacation from a previous year. That allows the child to enjoy the fact that a photo of them is actually on a birthday card. With kids, it is easy to write a fun verse for the inside of the card: the sillier the better!

If you want to have a card personally designed for your wife or girlfriend, you can use a picture of a place or location that is special to you both. This will be sure to put a smile on her face as you have shown how much you love and care about her by remember places where you shared a special moment. Selecting a verse or wording for her card may be more difficult. When writing the verse for the inside of the card, make sure you are speaking from your heart with the best birthday wishes and not in generic terms. Express your feelings using words that are carefully chosen so they don’t sound generic or cheesy. Put some humor into, especially if you share a private joke. This shows her that you spent a lot of time choosing the perfect card designed especially for her.

Designing a birthday card for a parent or relative is probably the most difficult. If you are struggling with the words or theme for your family member, it is probably a good idea to start figuring out how to select the perfect birthday card off a store shelf that represents their personality and relation to you. If you are choosing a card for your husband, father, or grandfather and he enjoys fishing, try to find a card that has a theme on the front relating to fishing. Usually men prefer short and simple wording in their cards as they are not as sentimental as women. Keeping your message short and to the point will appeal to him more than a long drawn out verse that tells him how much you appreciate and love him. Usually men are satisfied with a simple card with a simple birthday wish written on the inside of the card.

When shopping for a birthday card for a child, keep the child’s age in mind and how well they will understand what is written on the card. Pre-school age children (ages 2 to 4) would appreciate and enjoy a card that is cheerful, bright, and expresses your birthday wishes by using pictures. A simple saying in the card such as “stay cool and have a rockin’ birthday” is enough to capture the child’s attention and make them laugh at the same time. Pop-up cards are also a great choice for younger children as it provides a visually fun and exciting birthday wish. School age children enjoy cards that are more humorous with cute pictures. A card with a picture of a dog doing or wearing something silly with a funny saying on the inside is perfect for this age group. As the child gets older, cards that are more detailed and have more heartfelt wording will be much more appreciated.

Figuring out how to select the perfect birthday card for a teenager proves to be more of a challenge. Two options you have are choosing a card that expresses your thoughts in a more sentimental and poetic way or choosing one that is funny, goofy, eclectic, and far from being poetic or sentimental. Very rarely will you find a card that combines these two concepts. This may be the perfect opportunity to design a card especially for them that fits their personality and their interests. They will appreciate it so much more and may see you in a different light knowing that you were able to find humor in the life of a teenager.

Figuring out how to select the perfect birthday card for anyone can prove to be a challenge. Birthdays are an important day for the birthday person as it is THEIR day and everything is all about them. Parties are a very common way to celebrate a birthday. While buying a present for the birthday girl or boy is thoughtful and exciting, how much time you put into choosing their birthday card is the icing on the cake.

Your Golden Birthday

A golden birthday is just that…it is golden! Otherwise known as Grand Birthday, Lucky Birthday or Champagne Birthday, it is your special day that comes only once in your lifetime. A “golden birthday” is when someone’s age matches the date they were born. So if your birthday is October 10th, then your golden birthday is when you are ten years old! Golden birthdays are celebrated from the first year of someone’s life to the thirty-first year.

Golden birthdays are special as they occur only once in your lifetime. Granted if a child is one the golden birthday may go almost unnoticed but if a child is a little older, it can be great fun! And if a teenager or someone in their twenties to thirty one has a golden birthday, it can be a special fun time to remember.

Again, the party can have a specific theme depending on what the birthday person likes, the attributes of that person, etc. Do they like sports or art or dance? Do they have any collections like bottle caps, stamps or miniature cars? These can all be incorporated into a theme for the golden birthday.

From the invitations to the decorations, and from the food and even the presents, the theme can be carried all the way through. Sometimes, it is easier if the guests are asked to bring something for the party. Maybe they each bring one food item to serve so many guests. This is called “pot luck” and helps the host and hostess out immensely especially if there a lot of invited guests. It cuts down on the food expenses and offers a special addition to the party in that you share some really good foods from others.

Another idea is to have the guests prepare some special gift for the party. It might be the sharing of a memory about the birthday person or a photo. Oftentimes people are asked to bring their own beverages to a party or a game to share. This game might be a popular game or a particularly fun game that you have that the host or hostess has planned to play. Sometimes people volunteer to bring music or to even play the piano or another musical instrument at the party, too.

Birthday parties may be hosted at a private resident, at school or a work place, or even planned to be held an establishment. These planned parties can be at public places (a skating rink or circus, restaurant or banquet hall, etc.) or private facility (characterized by renting out a space or having a designated private area).

Any combination of food could be served from snacks and beverages, to appetizers and drinks and even a full-course meal. Usually there will be cupcakes or cake served with candles and singing Happy Birthday. This is followed by opening of gifts and an exchange of birthday wishes.

A family may have a tradition of celebrating a golden birthday a special way. Maybe the birthday person gets to pick a favorite restaurant to eat at, maybe they select some special place to go to, etc. or a family may have the same “birthday treat” offered to each of their children on this golden day. This could be cash, a family trip, a larger useful item like a computer, etc.

The important thing is that the birthday person is honored and feels special for their golden birthday.

How have you celebrated or how will you celebrate your golden birthday? How will you make the golden birthday of someone else special?
